Planetary Transits (Gochar)
Learn how the real-time movement of planets interacts with a natal chart to produce daily, weekly, and monthly forecasts.
What is a Transit?
A transit, or 'Gochar' in Sanskrit, refers to the continuous movement of planets in the sky. A "transit analysis" involves overlaying the current positions of the planets onto a natal (birth) chart to see which houses and planets are being activated.
If the natal chart is a static map of potential, transits are the dynamic triggers that activate that potential at specific times.
How this is used in our app:
Transits are the engine behind all of the app's scores. We calculate the positions of planets for various timeframes (live, next day, next week, etc.) and compare them against an entity's natal Moon sign to determine the astrological "weather" for that period.
How Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Transits Work
The impact of a transit depends on the speed of the transiting planet.
- Daily Transits: Primarily driven by the Moon, which changes signs every 2.5 days. The Moon's transit through a specific house from the natal Moon determines the emotional tone and focus for the day.
- Weekly Transits: Influenced by the faster-moving inner planets like Mercury and Venus. Their movement affects communications, social interactions, and short-term financial flows for the week.
- Monthly Transits: Dominated by the Sun (which stays in a sign for one month) and Mars. The Sun's position indicates the core area of focus for the month, while Mars shows where action and energy will be directed.
- Yearly Transits: Dictated by the slow-moving outer planets, Jupiter and Saturn. Their positions set the overarching themes of expansion, opportunity (Jupiter), contraction, and responsibility (Saturn) for the entire year.
Why Moon-Relative Transits Are Used
This app uses the 'Chandra Lagna' technique, which means all transits are analyzed from the position of the natal Moon, not the Ascendant. There are several key reasons for this:
- Mental & Emotional Impact: The Moon represents the mind. Analyzing transits from the Moon shows how events are being *perceived* and *experienced* emotionally, which is crucial for gauging sentiment.
- Public Perception: The Moon also governs the public. For a public entity like a stock or sports team, its transit chart from the Moon reflects how the general public is viewing and reacting to it.
- Reliability: The Moon's position is known with certainty, whereas the Ascendant (Lagna) can change with just a few minutes' difference in birth time. For public entities where the exact moment of inception can be ambiguous, the Moon provides a more reliable anchor.
Example: Same Transit, Different Result
Imagine Saturn is transiting the sign of Aries.
- For an entity with a Capricorn Moon, Aries is the 4th house. A Saturn transit here brings pressure related to foundational security, assets, and domestic peace. This could be a challenging period for the entity's core stability.
- For an entity with a Leo Moon, Aries is the 9th house. A Saturn transit here brings responsibility and hard work related to higher strategy, leadership, and long-term vision. This could be a period of slow but steady progress in building a powerful legacy.
This is why the same global planetary positions produce different scores and forecasts for different entities in the app.
