How Planetary Speed Affects Score Duration
The core principle behind assigning planets to different timeframes is their speed of movement through the zodiac. Faster planets create short-term effects, while slower planets dictate long-term trends.
Imagine the planets as layers of influence. The slow-moving planets create the deep, underlying current, while the fast-moving planets create the surface waves.
The Planetary Hierarchy by Timeframe
Daily Forecasts: The Moon
- Why: The Moon is the fastest of the nine celestial bodies, transiting a new zodiac sign approximately every 2.5 days. Its rapid movement makes it a perfect trigger for daily emotional shifts and events.
- Role in App: The Moon is the primary driver of the **Daily Vitality Score**. Its position and condition from the natal Moon sign have the highest weight in our daily algorithm, reflecting the immediate sentiment and "mood" of the day.
Weekly Forecasts: Mercury & Venus
- Why: Mercury (communication, commerce) and Venus (agreements, resources) move relatively quickly, changing signs roughly every 3-4 weeks. Their influence is most felt in the context of a business or social week.
- Role in App: In our **Weekly Score**, the weight of Mercury and Venus is increased to reflect their influence on the week's negotiations, social dynamics, and flow of information.
Monthly Forecasts: Sun & Mars
- Why: The Sun stays in one sign for a whole month, setting the central theme and focus for that period. Mars, the planet of action, takes about 45-60 days to transit a sign, making its influence relevant on a monthly scale.
- Role in App: The Sun and Mars are key drivers of the **Monthly Score**. The Sun's transit shows the area of life being energized, while Mars's position shows where decisive action is being taken.
Quarterly & Yearly Forecasts: Jupiter & Saturn
- Why: Jupiter (expansion, fortune) stays in a sign for about 1 year. Saturn (structure, discipline) stays in a sign for about 2.5 years. Their slow, powerful transits don't define a single day but establish the major themes and the overall environment for the entire year.
- Role in App: Jupiter and Saturn are the most heavily weighted planets in our **Quarterly and Yearly Scores**. A favorable Jupiter transit indicates a period of growth and opportunity, while a challenging Saturn transit points to a period of pressure, hard work, and restructuring. The faster planets simply act as triggers within the broader environment set by these two giants. Rahu and Ketu, which stay in a sign for 1.5 years, also contribute significantly to these long-term trends.
How this is used in our app:
The app contains separate scoring models for each timeframe (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly). Each model uses a different set of **planetary weightings**.
- The daily model gives the Moon a weight of ~40%, while Saturn might only get ~4%.
- The quarterly model might give Jupiter and Saturn each a weight of ~30%, while the Moon is considered noise and given ~0%.
This is why a high daily score can exist during a challenging quarter. It might indicate a good day for emotional sentiment (thanks to the Moon), but the broader structural pressures (from Saturn) are still in effect. Understanding this hierarchy is key to correctly interpreting the scores.
